The Truffle Cheese Shop has organized a trip to the farm’s sheep dairy
An increasing number of chefs are growing their own — whether herbs in containers on the patio or in an off-site farm that can supply a lot of fresh, organic produce. Alex Seidel and Paul Attardi, co-founders of award-winning Fruition Restaurant, have taken this one step farther to provide locally grown produce and joined with several other partners to open 10-acre Fruition Farm in Larkspur, about an hour south of Denver.
The farm has been growing greens, vegetables and herbs. Last summer, they added 50 head of sheep and have more than 60 lambs this spring. Partner Josh Halter lives on the farm, partner Jim Warren is the shepherd and partner and cheesemaker Val Landrum turns sheep’s milk into a variety of delicious Colorado cheeses. And that’s why The TruffleCheese Shop has organized a field trip on Memorial Day.
In addition to an exclusive tour of the cheese making facility and caves, with cheese making enlightment provided by The Truffle Cheese Shop’s experts, guests will have a chance to interact with the ewes and their babies. Then comes a spring lamb roast prepared by chef Alex Seidel, Food and Wine’s 2010 top ten best chefs in the country. Talk about a true farm-to-table experience orchestrated by one of the best chefs in the country.
The Truffle folks say that “the cheeses of Val Landrum and Fruition Farms are amazing: fresh sheep’s milk ricotta, Cacio Pecora and some even The Truffle staff haven’t tasted.” The cost is $85 per person. Claire, Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful info. Called the Truffle Cheese Shop right away and will be going on Memorial Day. Already looking forward to it, especially since it is almost across the street from my home and Fruition is my favorite restaurant. Heard a lot about the farm already.
Thanks again.
